Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q® Teams Up with the Bald Entrepreneurs for 2011 St. Baldrick’s Fundraising

Fundraising team continues “After-Shave” Party tradition with support of Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q

(Cary, NC) – Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q® (SCNB) is proud to announce that the North Carolina-based restaurant brand is once again supporting local St. Baldrick’s team, the Bald Entrepreneurs, during their 2011 fundraising year efforts which will contribute much-needed funds to research focused on eliminating childhood cancers.

The team at Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q® have always known that “it’s just not a tailgate without Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q”, and the Bald Entrepreneurs have proved that the same goes for an “After-Shave” Party. Smithfield’s will be providing fresh bar-b-q, delicious side items, and crowd favorites – hush puppies and sweet tea - for the team’s post-shave party that will continue raising funds even after the day’s shave event. The Bald Entrepreneur team has grown so much over the past few years that they will be hosting their own event at The Factory in Wake Forest on Saturday, March 6th from 12:00pm until 6:00pm, with the “After-Shave” Party taking place from 6:30pm until 9:30pm. The team’s theme for 2011 is “Going Bald So Kids Don’t Have To”.

“Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q is happy to continue to be part of this most worthy cause. The Bald Entrepreneurs do an amazing job every year of serving others and we are grateful to be able to support them in their work”, says Richard Averitte, Marketing Director for Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q. “Each year this group sets new goals for their team and they are inspiring to everyone touched by their mission to help eliminate childhood cancers.”

The Bald Entrepreneurs have set a fundraising goal of $60,000. To assist The Bald Entrepreneurs with their fundraising, Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q® will be donating 25¢ for each tweet that includes the hashtag “#BarBQforBaldricks” that is posted on Twitter on Saturday, March 5, 2011, from 12:01am EST until 11:59pm EST.

To find out more or to donate to the Bald Entrepreneurs team, visit their official team page at http://www.stbaldricks.org/events/thefactory2011. Chris Wright, founder of the Bald Entrepreneurs team, provided strong statistics for supporting the group and its participation in the St. Baldrick’s program: between 2005 and 2009, St. Baldrick’s has issued nearly $42 million in research grants ($12 million in 2009 alone) and funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any other organization, except the U.S. government.

According to the St. Baldrick’s website, on March 17, 2000, three insurance executives Tim Kenny, John Bender, and Enda McDonnell turned their industry’s St. Patrick’s Day party into a benefit for kids with cancer. The three planned to raise “$17,000 on the 17th,” recruiting 17 colleagues to raise $1,000 each to be shorn. Instead, the first St. Baldrick’s event raised over $104,000! Volunteers shave their heads in solidarity with kids fighting cancer and family and friends give generously - worldwide.  The St. Baldrick’s Foundation uses the donations to fund more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the United States Government.

Cary, NC-based entrepreneur, and owner of Swagger Gifts, named winner of the Marketing Achievement: Branding/Integrated Marketing award category

(Cary, NC) - Mandy Becker, owner of Swagger Gifts (http://www.SwaggerGifts.com), has announced that the popular Cary, NC-based gift and decorative accessories retail boutique was named the 2010 Gifts & Decorative Accessories magazine’s “Marketing Achievement: Branding and Integrated Marketing” category winner at the publication’s annual gala event in New York City on August 15, 2010.

Friday Evening Date Auction at Downtown Raleigh’s Still Life to Benefit the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation

Bartenders and staff come together to support annual event

(Raleigh, NC) –Jon Seel, General Manager of Still Life, and Kaelyn DeConti announced today that the popular Downtown Raleigh bar and nightclub will host the second annual in-house date auction to benefit the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, organized by DeConti.

The event will be held on Friday, September 17th, at Still Life and will feature 15 staff members from Still Life who are graciously offering themselves on the auction block to benefit a cause that hits very close to home for one of their fellow staff members. Many local restaurants have contributed generous gift certificates to the event as a gesture of support and will provide a local night out to each winning pair. Popular local 96RockFM personality Salt will be donating his time to serve as the event’s MC for the evening.

Kaelyn DeConti, who has been with the organization since its opening in 2010 is excited to continue organizing this annual event as a tribute to her mother. “My mom lost her battle to cancer on May 10th, 2005. She was such an inspiration to me that I want to be able to continue where she left off and help fight this battle. I think at my age, being a young adult, my peers might want to get involved and be able to support charities like this one and the date auction charity event is a great way to connect with my generation to support a great cause and at the same time, have fun doing it.” says DeConti of the event and her dedication to raising money for continued research.

The doors will open at Still Life at 7:00pm on Friday for the event with the auction starting at 9:30pm. The event will feature a complimentary dessert buffet from 9:00pm until 10:00pm as well as $5.00 Three Olives martinis. A portion of the sales from the evening will be donated to the fundraiser, as well.

“My mom was a remarkable woman, for being sick with cancer and yet instead of feeling sorry for herself, she wanted to make sure she helped others that were suffering like her. She actively participated in the efforts the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation makes to raise money and awareness to find a cure, in hopes that one day my mom would know that her kids wouldn’t suffer like she did, because there would be a cure for this” says DeConti.

100% of the proceeds from the date auction will be donated to the foundation.

For more information on the event, please contact Kaelyn DeConti, by email at Kaelyn.DeConti@gmail.com.

CityGate Real Estate Services and RtownLiving Announce New Downtown Raleigh Real Estate Partnership

Joining of the two established teams doubles size and offerings of both firms

(Raleigh, NC) – CityGate Real Estate Services, a Downtown Raleigh real estate development, advisory services, residential brokerage, and property management firm, and RtownLiving, a network of real estate professionals who are known for their varying social and professional networking events in the Raleigh area, have announced that the two organizations have created a new real estate partnership in the Downtown Raleigh market.

CityGate Real Estate Services and RtownLiving are joining together to better serve their growing client base looking for real estate professionals who are not only knowledgeable about the Downtown Raleigh area, but also fully immersed in the culture, offerings, and lifestyles represented in the popular market. The CityGate Real Estate Services offices, located at 404 Glenwood Avenue – right in the heart of Downtown Raleigh’s popular Glenwood South district, now includes the RtownLiving team’s daytime workspace, allowing the Rtown team to better serve their Downtown clients.

CityGate Real Estate Services, an established brokerage office founded by Doro Taylor and John O’Neal, brings to the partnership a well-networked and experienced team of mainly native real estate brokers who have been advising clients in the Greater Raleigh market for many years – many of whom have retained several green designations as part of their real estate education, including the nationally-recognized NAR Green Designation and EcoBroker certification, in order to assist their clients in making sustainable living decisions.

RtownLiving adds a unique offering to the partnership with their social and professional networking programs. The RtownLiving, Raleigh Young Professionals, and Friday Afternoon Club organizations have been bringing locals together to network, socialize, and support businesses, restaurants, and bars in the area for the past two years with their monthly and weekly recurring programming. Aside from the networking aspect of the RtownLiving brand, the Rtown team has specialized in helping their clients make good decisions based on their lifestyle needs when it comes to buying and selling real estate.

Chuck Belden and Jason Long, co-founders of RtownLiving, have spent last 15 years developing skills to run a modern, niche-focused real estate business and while already living in the Downtown Raleigh area, found that maintaining an office in North Raleigh was a great start for their team, but it was a disconnect from their goal of truly focusing on the downtown living lifestyle they were personally immersed in already.

“Living two blocks from the office has been a really nice change of pace”, notes Long. “Not having to start the day with a morning commute makes us not only more readily available to our clients, but also allows us to fully support their same interests from a downtown living perspective”, added Belden.

“What made this a great opportunity from our perspective”, adds Taylor “was that not only did the Rtown team already embrace a very similar ‘relationships first’ strategy like we do, but they also were putting together great events and social networks – something that we could offer a great venue for which to generate more events, more relationships, and ultimately more business for all of us.”

About CityGate Downtown Real Estate
CityGate Real Estate Services was founded in 2009 by Doro Taylor and John O’Neal as an agency that would be home to experienced agents who have always believed that “providing the best service is essentially about putting our clients first”. This “client first” philosophy has always been CityGate’s approach to real estate development, advisory services, residential brokerage, and property management and remains so a year later. It was founded on the idea that the business of real estate can be done in a new way, and that the office is a place where the individual brokers have a platform from which to do great work, and to gain unparalleled support, coaching, tools, camaraderie, and information. In addition to being highly experienced in all areas of real estate services, the agency also boasts the reputation as the areas first and only EcoBroker office as well as maintaining proud membership in The Home Builders Association (HBA) of Raleigh and Wake County, and serving as a founding member of the Raleigh Independent Realty Association (RIRA). Swagger Gifts Hosts Twilight Eclipse Charity Event to Raise Money for the Triangle Area Chapter of the American Red Cross

Vampires, werewolves, and a premiere night party… what more could Twilight fans want?

(Cary, NC) - Mandy Becker, owner of Swagger Gifts (http://www.SwaggerGifts.com), has announced that the popular gift and decorative accessories retail is hosting a party with a cause on Tuesday, June 29th – just hours before the midnight premiere of Eclipse (http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/eclipse.html), the eagerly anticipated third movie in the Twilight series.

Since April, Swagger Gifts has offered faithful Team Edward and Team Jacob fans the opportunity to donate to the Triangle Area chapter of the American Red Cross and have their picture taken with the boys from Twilight in exchange. The pictures have been shared on the store’s blog at http://blog.swaggergifts.com/p/eclipse-charity-event.html and have been further shared by participating donors on their personal facebook profiles, as well as the store’s facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/SwaggerGifts.

No fundraiser event at Swagger Gifts would be completed without an opportunity to shop for the cause! On Tuesday, June 29th, Swagger Gifts will be holding a pre-midnight premiere shopping party, with a chance to save big – just by donating! The “Girls Night Out” party will feature a raffling for the life-size Edward and Jacob stand-ups that have been on display on the store since the launch of this promotion. Party-goers can enter the raffle just by donating $5.00 (with extra entries for each additional $5.00 donated) and have a good chance of taking their choice of Edward or Jacob to the movie premiere with them! Swagger Gifts is sweetening the offer by treating shoppers to 15% off their entire purchase during the party when donating; only excluding local artists merchandise.

The party will take place from 6:00pm until 8:00pm (leaving plenty of time to get in line for the best seats at the movie theatre) and will feature themed appetizers and beverages and the opportunity to “get bitten” for a great cause! Put June 29th on your calendar and make sure you send an invitation to your fellow Twilight lovers to join you at Swagger Gifts!

For more information about Swagger Gifts, or to RSVP for this special Eclipse premiere party, please call (919) 858-5884, or 1-877-792-4437 (toll-free), Monday through Friday between 10am until 6pm, or Saturday from 10am until 5pm, or visit the store’s website at: http://www.SwaggerGifts.com.
